The PRBlog – a view from the trenches

Full-service PR consultancy Due North aims to deliver a view from the trenches with its new PRBlog, a take on the “exciting, dynamic and frequently quirky world” of New Zealand public relations. And, in the spirit of social media, it’s not shy about ruffling a feather or two.

Recent posts rip into Advertising Value Equivalents (AVEs), branding them “meaningless”, “misused” and “misleading measurements from a bygone era”, and lily-livered PR execs who dilute their own value by meekly allowing themselves to be bulldozed by clients or bosses.

“We’re not into gratuitous insult but Due North’s style is one of straight talking, so I do want the tone of the blog to be slightly edgier than some of the very worthy but mightily dull offerings already out there,” said Peter Heath, Due North managing director and PRBlog contributor.

Heath is looking for contributors beyond his team at Due North.

“It’s ‘the PRBlog’. Not ‘the Due North blog’. If you’ve got something to say about PR, or the way somebody’s doing PR, and you know what you’re talking about, I’d love to hear from you.”

Due North operates throughout New Zealand and across Australia, the Asia Pacific region and Europe, working with clients as far afield as Hong Kong, Paris, Zurich and Brussels. Its services include public relations consultancy and programme delivery; issues management and crisis communication; media, writing and presentation training; and any type of writing or editorial support.
